Recently I went to an organic, health-conscious cafe called Oneness Cafe in Coogee, NSW. It was great, they had filtered water for the table, organic produce, activated nuts, raw desserts, dandy latte’s and a green smoothie on the menu!
I love that there are health conscious cafe’s popping up everywhere in Australia! Melbourne has a few amongst the thousands of cafe’s in this town! One of my favourites is Yong Green in Brunswick st Fitzroy. I’m dying to fly over to Perth WA, just to try Solomon’s cafe, owned by musician Paul Reid aka Drapht. I hear the beetroot chips topped with a squeeze of orange juice and a sprinkle of sea salt are amazing! YUM! What health conscious cafe’s have you come across? Email me, I’d love to hear about them! [email protected] .
I’m going to share my version of Oneness cafe’s refreshing green smoothie which really hit the spot for me after a day at the beach! I tried my best to remember what it had in it and it turned out good!
Although this smoothie may look like it’s for the more advanced green smoothie drinker, being that it has celery and parsley in it. Rookie green smoothie drinkers need not fear, it’s balanced out quite nicely with some honey, banana and the zing of a lemon.
Now, you will need a high powered blender to make this smoothie nice and smooth, otherwise it may turn out with bits in it which it not very enjoyable when drinking a smoothie! A vitamix, omniblend or something of that calibre is the go!
What you need:
- 2 Kale Leaves
- 1 small handful of parsley
- Juice of half a large lemon
- ½-3/4 cup coconut water
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 ½ tsp raw honey
- 1 stalk of celery
- Ice
Serves 2
Blend all ingredients until well and truly smooth. Add honey to taste.
I hope you enjoy I this one and if you’re ever in Coogee, be sure to visit Oneness Cafe!
