The Breakfast Jar
Breakfast is my favourite meal. Hands down. I love that you can do sweet or savoury. Breakfast just feels a little more fun that the other meals of the day. Like lunch and dinner are a little more serious… Don’t you think?! (or is it just me) :). Well as much as i love breakfast, we all have those mornings where we have to rush out the door without much time to sit down for a proper breaky. That was me last week but i wasn’t mad because something amazing happened! Enter The Breakfast Jar.
This breakfast sensation came about while i was staring at my cupboard trying to think what i wanted for breaky that i could literally walk out the door with. If you’re like me you have mason jars filled with all sorts of goodness lined up in your cupboard – it’s kinda like being a kid in a candy store for me… minus the candy!
This particular morning i picked two ingredients i don’t use that much Peanut Butter (not the kraft kind – the kind that’s got zero added oil, sugar or salt of course) and hazelnuts. I had a craving for peanut butter lately so i just went with it!
I also had some gorgeous organic Corella Pears and strawberries, so in to the jar they went too! This breakfast jar isn’t the type of thing that you can make the night before and it doesn’t require overnight soaking, it’s more like a throw what you see into the jar, put the lid on, grab a spoon and go type of breakfast.
I made sure i got some omega-3’s in there and protein with some chia seeds and i couldn’t leave out my beloved oats! I used rolled oats as they’re a little softer. You could of course experiment with your own flavours for your own Breakfast jar but this combo was so good! Trust me. Hazelnuts, Peanut Butter, Oats, honey, cinnamon, chia seeds, Pear, strawberries and yoghurt, it just worked.
In my up and coming ebook “Pantry Staples”, i talk about the importance of Raw honey verses regular honey that has been heated and therefore loses important enzymes and healing properties etc. So go raw and organic, it’s worth it!
I have to say that this breakfast really took me through to lunch! I didn’t get that low blood sugar dip that i might get if i only have porridge for breaky. So if you have a big morning ahead this could be your saviour! I hope you enjoy this as much as i did! So Yummy!
